NEVER OFF DUTY!

One of the Gosport Neighbourhood Team was out walking their dog this morning at Walpole Park when they noticed two men in a car with a strong smell of cannabis coming from it. Not in a position to deal with it themselves they called a colleague who was on duty at Gosport who relayed the details to our control room, who dispatched the two marked cars that were available. Unfortunately the vehicle set off prior to the marked units arrival but the off duty officer had made it back to his car and managed to follow it safely to a location a mile or two away. Just as the driver was about to get out of the parked car the two marked units arrived on blue lights and the off duty officer left them to it.

We have since learnt that the driver was over the legal limit for drug driving and was also found to be in possession of cannabis, as such he was arrested and taken to Portsmouth Custody Centre to be processed for court. 👍🏼
